Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Model

One type of learners that Gardner discusses in his multiple intelligence model is visual learners. Visual learners learn best by seeing! Educational websites can meet the needs of these types of learners by SHOWING samples or examples!

My educational website contains many visuals such as a class schedule, the class rules, a homework table, etc.

They key for visual learners is for them to have something to physical see. A website can do just this. Students will not only be able to see what the teacher is talking about in the classroom but they will also get to see assignments at home from the website.

This technological advancement is great for visual learners!

The learning style that I chose is visual learning because this is how I learn best. These learners learn through seeing, whether it be learning from graphs, facial expressions, videos, etc. Although a student cannot see a teacher's hand gestures on a classroom website, a website can still meet the needs of this type of learner. The more visuals contianed on a website the better when it comes to this type of learner. They need more than just words, such as tables, graphics, videos. These can all easily be added to a website. My website includes tables, graphics, and other aspects that should appeal to thse learners.

Val-I agree that classroom websites can be very helpful for visual learners. When I was thinking about my own learning style I quickly classified myself as a visual learner, but as I analyzed myself I realized that I need more than just to see something, and I think that many students are like me in that they need to see something as well as hear it, etc. I think a teacher needs to keep this in mind and try to appeal to all of the learning styles as best as he or she can.

Mary-
I agree with what you said about some students needing to hear things as well as see them. Maybe teachers could add messages in their own voices onto their websites! I have not seen this yet (or heard it) but it could be interesting!
